Baby allegedly left during strip club visit taken into care.
Appalled Child, Youth and Family workers have taken a one-year-old baby into care after his father left him unattended in a car while he watched strippers in a nearby Wellington bar. Children’s Commissioner John Angus says leaving a baby alone is an “extreme form of neglect”.
A passer-by noticed the child about 3am yesterday and contacted police, who arrived within seven minutes and broke a window of the locked car to rescue the baby. They took him to Wellington police station but he was later taken to Wellington Hospital by ambulance staff concerned about his breathing.
The father was found in the nearby Mermaid strip club, where he was arrested on an outstanding warrant for unrelated “minor” charges, Inspector Simon Perry said. “He was not being actively sought by the police (for the outstanding warrant) and he will appear on those charges when he goes to court.”
What a loser! Fortunately the baby slept through the incident, but where was the mother while this was happening? Full article here.

Child Abuse in New Zealand 
Ug… unfortunately, this happens all too often here, too. As many articles as I’ve seen of this (sometimes “gestational devices” at bars or clubs leaving their babies in cars, but mostly sperm donors or bad boyfriends/step dads leaving them in cars while visiting a strip club…)
I always wonder the same thing… where was the other parent?
Also, I’m sure that it happens a lot more than we hear about.
Eerily similar to this story on Parents Behaving Badly. Unfortunately in New Zealand most suspected criminals automatically get name suppression (supposedly to protect their families) so it can be quite difficult to obtain names and pictures to pretty up my posts!

wtf ? im fixing to say something here and i really dony give a **** if someones toes get stepped on. what is wrong with parents today, when you have a child that child becomes your world. as a parent we teach our children by our example. which means once you become a parent all the drinking, smoking, partying..ect STOPS. you act like a parent, not some middle aged person trying to keep ur youth. and if a person cant handle that..dont spread your legs, or keep it zipped. also children are only as smart as we make them, the most important thing we can give our kids besides love is our TIME. when you have a child its about them not you or your petty wants. im sick of seeing children suffer at the hands of irresponsible parents ( born and unborn ) people need to grow up, stop being self centerd, and learn responsibility. i have a 2 yr old girl, she is my world and my heart i teach her so much by reading, playing with her, keepin a clean home and thru my example.
