Soccer club manager abused boys over 28 year period.

Grant Williams

Hutt man offended over 28 years.

A former Petone soccer club manager has been jailed for four years and eight months for indecently assaulting boys over a period of 28 years. Grant Williams, 70, of Maungaraki, pleaded guilty last month to 15 charges of indecently assaulting seven boys aged under 16 between 1962 and 1990.

In Wellington District Court Judge Denys Barry said Williams took innocent victims and scarred their lives forever. The court was told Williams had a previous conviction for indecent assault against a boy under the age of 16 from 1979.

4 years and 8 months jail for a crime spree that went on for 28 years? That is pathetic! He should have to spend at least one year in jail for each boy he abused.

Seeing as how there were only 15 charges (which would mean that he’s been charged with abusing 15 boys at most), I think it would be far better for him to spend as many years in prison as the crime spree lasted… and add on a few extra for good measure because chances are he had victims before 1962 as well, and probably many more victims during the 28 years that didn’t come forward.

4 years and 8 months *is* pathetic.

Not to mention that he’s most likely had other victims in the 10 years since he’s worked as a soccer coach.

Scum like this never reform, the best place for him is prison for good, he’ll fit right in there!

If he was given a year for each boy he abused he never get out, believe me I know, this bastard was one of the worst child offenders this county has ever seen.
But he will get out and I will find out where he lives and I will be knocking on all his neighbors doors to tell them who has moved in close to them, he will never be allowed to forget.

Good for you. I am all for members of the public taking steps to protect themselves (and others) – especially where we are let down by our pathetic crim-hugging justice system – from evil predators like this guy.

He is out. I am one of his victims. I don’t know where he is now and it scares me
